- Description
- When is a Rex not a Rex? When it's a T REX™! Our breeders have taken some good forms and bred in new species which look like a Rex, but feel different and even grow differently! Strong, thick leaves adorn vigorous plants that can be grown in cooler temperatures that would "slay" most Rexes. These TERRA NOVA® Begonias require growing conditions above 55º Fahrenheit (13º Celsius). However, once established, they can tolerate temperatures down to 38º (3º Celsius) Fahrenheit without damage. Each variety has an upright habit and features silken, shimmering leaves with stunning, saturated color. Absolutely the best the market has to offer. Heat and humidity tolerant.

- Cultural Requirements
- SOIL: Begonias prefer acidic, well-drained mix.The peatlite mixes do quite well for Begonia culture. LIGHT: Rex Begonias will grow best at light intensities between 2,000 footcandles (FC) and 3,000 FC. Best growth will be achieved at 2,200 to 2,500 FC. Additional shade may be required during hot periods of summer. Begonias are not heavy feeders but do require a constant source of nitrogen. 100 ppm nitrogen (N) form a 3-2-1 or 2-1-2 source. Check your soluble salts.
- Comments
- As with all commercial series the individual colors change or are improved on a continual basis. An entire series may disappear if sufficient improvements are made in a new line of genetics and when the company removes a series from the market they also clear as much old information about the series from any web based sources. They do this to avoid confusing their customer, nothing nefarious, but it makes it difficult to see changes in series over time, so this entry is merely a place marker showing the series at this point in time 2015. Colors in the series include: T Rex First Blush, Painter's Palette, Ruby Slippers and St. Nick
