Description
Monoic plant acaule, greyish rhizome up to 10cm in length, provided at the top of many persistent stipules. Generally solitary leaf, applied to the rock or exceptionally 2 to 4 much smaller leaves, possibly disappearing when the main leaf develops; petiole 5-21 cm long glabrous or finely puberulent; blade 5-7-palmatinerve, membranous or somewhat crassulose, inequilateral, reniform-rounded, sometimes triangular-acute at the apex, margins Creneles-dentes, dark green above, lighter below sometimes marble of darker areas around the veins, glabrous on both sides, 10-22 X 12-33 (up to 30 x 60) cm; ribs finely marked on both sides. Stipules leafy triangular-acute, 8-12 X 6-8 mm. inflorescence in biparian cymes rather loose, with pink flowers, MALE more numerous than FEMALE; common peduncle, 3.5-32 cm long; first branches 3-10 cm long; MALE flowers with thick pedicel, -6 mm long; obovate-elongated leafy bracts, similar to stipules, early deciduous 8 x 3 mm; 2 tepals thin, rounded, 8-13 X 9-15 mm. Stamens 10-15, fasciculates; very short free nets; antheres 2-3 mm long, yellow. FEMALE flowers with fine pedicel length 10-12 mm; 2 tepals 8 x 7-9 mm rounded or slightly oval-oblong. Ovary elongated, about 10 mm long, triaile, large rounded wing, 2-3 mm wide, 1 mm small, very confluent at base; bifid styles; stigmatized area strongly spiral. Obovate capsule, triailee, 17-18 X 20 mm (wings included), in corner at the base truncated at the top; large subtriangular wing, wider upwards, up to 8-12 mm, attenuated towards the base; small wing broad of 4-5 mm; end reticulum of nerves on the entire capsule. Seeds quite small 0.4 / 0.25 mm; tegument with small meshes often occupying more than half of the surface tegumentaire; rectangular meshes generally little elongated. - Pl. 7 p. 29.
