Description
The Gardeners' chronicle, v. 20, 1883 B. olbia: Under this name a new Begonia has been introduced from Brazil by M. Pynaert Van Geert, of Ghent (fig. 128). It is slated to resemble B. diadema in habit. The leaves are deeply and irregularly toothed above, blackish-green in color, spotted with white, and thinly covered with small reddish hairs. The plant flowers freely, and produces an abundance of white flowers, and was so highly appreciated at the exhibition held at Ostend in August last by the Royal Flora Society of Brussels that it was awarded the 1st prize for new plants.
