- imperfectly known. Plant acaule, rhizome irregularly expanded. Leaves of petiole canaliculi, pale green or red, possibly 20 cm long, with white longitudinal striae; short edges wings; blade sniff-like, ladylike, 5-palmatinate at base, glabrous on both sides, rope at base, 15 x 20 cm, pale green, with reddish margins and denticles; white veins. Stipules linear, acute, 23 x 10 mm, persistent long. lnflorescence of 15-20 pale pink flowers, in bipar cymes, with peduncle upright, green or red, streak of white, up to 32 cm in length; bractee oval, acute, 10 X 7 mm, green or a little pink, deciduous. Flowers has 2 orbicular tepals of 9 x 11 mm. Stamens 14, fasciculate, with an anthere length of 2 mm, with longitudinal dehiscence; short net. FEMALE flowers have 2 tepals similar to those of MALE flowers. Ovary 3 boxes; divided placentas; 3 semi-oval wings, the largest of 13 x 16 mm, the small ones of 12 x 16 mm; styles 3, free, bifid to the middle; stigma papillose, lyre shaped, with spiral branches. This species is known only by its type, which comes from seeds sent to the Pari Natural History Museum by Perrier de la Bathie. Guillaumin has described the specimen on fresh and reports that it is a curious plant whose petioles and flower stalks are either red or green. We have not been able to report to this species other specimens from Madagascar.
