- Description
- Die Gartenwelt. Berlin :G. Schmidt, Jahr. 5 (1900-1901): Page 176 http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/30381 These names are described in October, 1900, of the Journal of the Societe Nationale d'Horticulture de France, a new begonia, which is regarded as very valuable by French connoisseurs. Her breeder is Painteche in Boulogne-sur-Seine, in whose cultures in 1899 this novelty showed itself under several genuine B. versaillensis. It is probably a sport of the same, and is characterized by strikingly purple, bronze-lined leaves, and very crimson colored flowers. In consequence, 'Triomphe de Boulogne' is much superior to the parent species, and over all its hybrids, as well as the form rubra.
