- One of at least six different cultivars named in honor of Julie Vanderwilt (1945-2021), a cherished Begonia enthusiast and an active member of the American Begonia Society from Santa Barbara, CA. Ms. Vanderwilt was known for her open and friendly personality, her dedication to community in many different forms, and her IT skills which led to the first iteration of the American Begonia Society’s website and she also administered ‘The Yahoo Group’ which for a decade or more was the primary interactive chat site for Begonias in the early 2000’s.
