Description
Begonia 'Pink Parasol' No. 911-Begonia sutherlandii x partita 'Pink Parasol' Semi tuberous, "maple-leaved" basket plant with bright pink flowers. Green, 2" x 3/4", thin, lobed leaf blades have serrate margin, pointed tip, and 5 main veins. Smooth petioles are 3/4" long; bulbils form in the axils. Flowers, shaped like those of B. sutherlandii, are bright pink, opening flat to 1" across. Males with 2 tepals and females with 5 are borne on 3/4" peduncles profusely in summer and fall, on a dense, compact plant resembling a pink parasol. Originated in 1981 by Goldie Frost (address above); first bloomed in 1981; first distributed in 1982. Tested by Ronnie Nevins of Fullerton, CA. and Mae Light of Garden Grove, CA.
