- No. 543 - Begonia (B. 'Persian Brocade' X B. 'Dr. Jim') 'Ruth Brankey' With dark-green, black-edged 6 in. star-shaped leaves, margin moderately cut, this rhizomatous begonia was originated by Goldie Frost, address above, in 1973, first blooming in 1975 with bright-pink flowers, two-petaled ½ x 1 in., on 18 in. stem in spring. The leaf-texture is smooth, quite thick, with seven nerves, and quite hairy petioles and stipules. Back of veins is red-hairy, with edging on reverse red. Registered August 23, 1976.
