- Description
- The Garden, v. 15, (1879) Last year I saw in the nurseries of Messrs. Laing & Co., Forest Hill, over 150 distinct varieties of these tuberous-rooted Begonias in pots. They were arranged in one house and comprised nearly all the sorts that are worthy of culture. Amongst them were: Vesuvius, a very free-flowering orange-red; The Illustrated dictionary of gardening: edited by George Nicholson; J.W.H. Trail, and J. Garrett. London: L. Upcott Gill; 1887-1889. division 1: Page 169-179. http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/48616; Vesuvius – single flower form, bright orange-scarlet, compact and free, one of the finest bedders.
